The course begins with Module 1: Rekindling the Flame, where participants will reconnect with their "why" by reading chapters 1-3 from Brown's "Atlas of the Heart" and chapters 1-2 from Mielke's "The Burnout Cure." They will reflect on their past experiences and set the stage for renewal through journal entries and an initial discussion post, culminating in the first class meeting.
Module 2: Unmasking the Burnout Beast delves into the root causes of burnout, exploring both personal and systemic factors through readings from both texts (Brown chapters 4-6, Mielke chapters 3-4). Participants will engage in reflective journaling and discussions to identify these causes.
Module 3: From Barriers to Breakthroughs focuses on reclaiming personal power and overcoming challenges. Readings from Brown (chapters 7-9) and Mielke (chapters 5-6) will inform journal entries and discussions on strategies for success. The module concludes with a reflection paper on personal journeys and overcoming barriers.
Module 4: Cultivating Inner Strength shifts the focus to building resilience and self-compassion. Participants will explore these themes through readings from Mielke (chapters 7-8), journal entries, and discussions.
Module 5: Sustainable Joy guides participants in designing their ideal teaching life, drawing inspiration from Mielke (chapters 9-10). Journal entries and discussions will center on creating a fulfilling and sustainable career.
