Video is everywhere and creating videos is easier than ever! This course is for educators interested in incorporating non-fiction multimedia production into their curriculum. You will advance your understanding of documentary practice, contemporary media art production, and learn how to support students with producing creative video projects that engage with their local communities.
Dive into video and audio production, filmmaking modes and styles, multimedia art, project workflow, and editing software. You will produce your own short documentary video project -- from concept development (pre-production) to the final edit (post-production).
Documentary practice is defined at the process of creating documentary projects. This includes, but is not limited to: documentary film and video, audio podcasts, multimedia journalism, and nonfiction media art.

● Smartphone/iPad (including method for transferring video to computer) and/or DSLR camera
● Tripod for specific camera, phone, or tablet

Christopher Wiersema is a media artist, educator, and arts administrator, based in Vermont, working in experimental film and video, documentary practice, and community media. He is the founder and director of the award winning Vermont Youth Documentary Lab.
