Although they come from a blend of backgrounds, Castleton students and faculty share a passion for making a difference in the communities that surround them.
The university has developed a close-knit relationship with the local areas and provides students with many opportunities to get involved.
Since 2003, Castleton has made a strong commitment to the American Democracy Project , a national program initiated by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities to place more emphasis on citizen education and civic engagement. More recently the university has joined ADP's Civic Agency Initiative to teach citizens the skills necessary to bring positive change to their communities.
Through community service, often called civic engagement, students discover a broadened perspective, strengthened voices and awareness that they can make a difference. Help us turn our vision of a stronger local and world community into a reality through new and ongoing initiatives involving students, faculty, staff, and meaningful partnerships with community agencies.
