Dear Students:
As you prepare to transition later today, I want you to know, I miss you already. I am grateful for your continued patience and understanding as we work through this challenging time, addressing the ever-changing situation regarding COVID-19 and its impact on our campus. While it saddens me to think about the possibility of our campus being quiet for the next four weeks without you, your health and wellbeing is my highest priority.
I understand that, for those of you leaving campus, this will be an emotional experience, particularly for our arts students and our student-athletes, and I want you to know that we're here for you during this difficult time. You are the heart of this amazing institution, and I remain hopeful that I will be able to welcome you back to campus after Spring Break.
Many of you have reached out to express concern, and to ask questions about how the decision to transition to online learning will impact you in the coming weeks. Most of your questions have focused on the schedule for which we will be moving to online courses, and how to prepare for your journey back home this weekend.
To help you, we have created an FAQ section on our Coronavirus web page so you and your families can stay updated on the latest information. This section includes details about what to pack, future campus events, the schedule for leaving and returning to campus, and more.
I know this decision may impact your Castleton experience, but when you come back to campus, everything you know and love about our university will be here waiting for you. I know I am going to miss seeing your smiling faces around campus every day.
I encourage you to use your support systems at Castleton during this time. If you have any questions about residence life, please reach out to Dennis Proulx, dean of students, at dennis.proulx@castleton.edu. For specific questions about coursework, please contact your professor or your academic advisor.
