Angela lived in Upstate New York for more than twenty years and then moved to California where she taught preschool for five years at Play Mountain Place, a humanistic school founded in 1949. She completed her graduate work in psychology and education at the University of California, Riverside.

Her research focuses on emotion, culture, and race in preschool. She credits her third grade teacher, Mrs. Carol Anne Smith, for inspiring her to pursue a career committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in early childhood education.

Angela is excited to be here in beautiful Vermont where she can practice relationship-based teaching and revel in all four seasons.

Accomplishments

• Researching and developing a trauma-informed course for early childhood educational communities in collaboration with Hand in Hand Parenting (a nonprofit organization serving families and professionals).
• Presenting research and workshops at different venues, including the Social Pedagogy Conference in Puebla, Mexico, the International Society for Theoretical Psychology Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the Creating Trauma Sensitive Schools Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
• Doing valuable work that I love in a beautiful community.
