Helen graduated with her BSN from Georgetown University and her MSN from the Catholic University of America. She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Quinnipiac University. She also carries two additional nursing certifications; one as an ANCC Certified Nursing Case Manager and the other as a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist.

Helen has worked as an RN for over 32 years and has held a variety of positions. She has worked as a bedside nurse, clinical educator, faculty member, manager, director, and case manager. These roles have taken her from small WV communities to large metropolitan health systems. Her primary clinical specialty has been pulmonary and critical care.

Helen teaches nursing at the Bennington campus of Castleton University and is the site coordinator.
