William Mercier (Mr. M.) has a varied background in study, performance, conducting, and teaching. He has performed in a wide variety of professional singing roles (stage, oratorio, church) and was a charter member and tenor for 15 years in a Washington DC-based chamber vocal ensemble which gained and retains regional notoriety. He has taught high school choir in northern Virginia and done extensive vocal coaching assisting his students in earning many National Capitol Area "Cappies" awards and nominations. Mr. M. has been Director of Music at churches in Northern Virginia for 15 years concentrating on restoration of "musica sacra" in the Catholic liturgy. He has been invited as director at a number of churches including the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC and the Basilica of the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, MD. Since moving to Vermont, he has performed with Vermont Symphony Orchestra and soloist with area community groups. Mr. M. has taught at Castleton since 2008 and is an innkeeper in Killington.
