Castleton to Deliver Full Online Programs
Castleton University has received notice that the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) has formally accepted its proposal to offer distance education programming.
“We’re thrilled that NEASC has approved this proposal which will open the doors for us to offer full programs in an online format,” said Castleton University President Dr. Karen M. Scolforo. “The Master of Science in Accounting and RN-to-BS in Nursing are ready for full online launch starting immediately and we expect to add additional programs to our online platform in the near future. Both of our current programs serve unique populations of professionals and a fully online delivery will provide them the flexibility necessary to continue to focus on their careers while pursuing an advanced degree.”
Castleton’s MS in Accounting has been delivered on campus since 2011, preparing students for a variety of licenses and credentials including the CPA, CMA, CFE, and CIA. The program focuses on four main areas of study including financial accounting and auditing, professional standards and ethics, management accounting and finance, and taxation. The job placement rate for graduates of the program is 100% and the pass rate on the CPA exam is above the national average.
Castleton announced lower graduate tuition and fees in February, resulting in a 25 percent reduction in overall cost of attendance. Now, with its online delivery, Castleton has eliminated another barrier of entry for obtaining an advanced degree.
As a recent Governor-appointed board member of the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE), Dr. Scolforo is committed to making a Castleton education accessible to students outside of Vermont’s borders. “Castleton University is an approved NC-SARA (National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements) institution, which allows us to provide online education to students nationwide,” Scolforo explained.
The RN-to-BS program allows qualified licensed registered professional nurses a flexible adult learning experience to complete baccalaureate degree requirements. The nursing program at Castleton is approved by the Vermont Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and has served high-quality nurses’ education to the nursing community for over 60 years.
