Castleton University and Fulton-Montgomery Community College have formed a collaborative agreement to create a pathway for bachelor’s degree completion.
The agreement creates a streamlined transition for Fulton-Montgomery graduates to continue their education by pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Castleton University.
Under the agreement, students who graduate from Fulton-Montgomery with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher will qualify for guaranteed admission to Castleton. Students coming from Fulton-Montgomery with a completed associate degree will be granted junior standing in their first year and complete their remaining credits toward a bachelor’s degree at Castleton.
“We are pleased to create a streamlined path for Fulton-Montgomery Community College graduates to continue their education at Castleton University,” said Castleton University President Dr. Karen M. Scolforo. “This agreement creates an affordable option for students to achieve their dream of earning a bachelor’s degree.”
The agreement also extends the Maple Scholarship to Fulton-Montgomery graduates when they enroll at Castleton. The scholarship reduces out-of-state tuition to the equivalent of Vermont resident tuition.
To qualify for the Maple Scholarship, a candidate must be a resident of a county that neighbors Vermont or in the process of earning an associate degree from Fulton-Montgomery. Recipients of the Maple scholarship must be full-time matriculated students, live on campus, and maintain satisfactory academic progress. The Maple Scholarship is renewable each year a student meets the requirements.
Additionally, students who have earned an associate degree from Fulton-Montgomery will be considered for additional merit scholarships.
“We are very pleased to partner with Castleton University to provide this opportunity for our graduates to continue their education,” said Fulton-Montgomery Community College Acting President Dr. Gregory Truckenmiller. “Such transfer agreements support the mission of Fulton-Montgomery Community College to provide high quality educational experiences.
Fulton-Montgomery Community College is a fully-accredited, not-for-profit institution located in Johnstown, New York, offering more than 40 degree and certificate programs.
