Performative Acts will be on display at Castleton University Bank Gallery in Downtown Rutland Oct. 13 through Jan. 4. The exhibition showcases the work of acclaimed Vermont photographer and activist Dona Ann McAdams.
Performative Acts is a collection of work featuring historic black-and-white portraits of avant-garde performers, pioneers of Queer liberation, portraits of people living with mental illness, Appalachian farmers, cloistered nuns, racetrack workers, and image of horses, oxen, and goats.
The opening reception for Performative Acts will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. at Castleton University Bank Gallery, located at 104 Merchants Row in Rutland. Dona Ann McAdams will also be the focus of the Vermont Humanities Council First Wednesday program on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m., in conversation with curator John Killacky.
