The Castleton baseball, men's lacrosse, and women's lacrosse teams each won their respective North Atlantic Conference championship this weekend in grand fashion, celebrating wins in front of their home crowds.
Castleton recorded 14 runs from 15 hits to capture its second straight North Atlantic Conference Championship and third in the last four seasons with a 14-2 victory over the Thomas Terriers this afternoon at Spartan Field.
The Spartans were perfect in tournament play with an opening day win over Maine-Farmington before defeating the Terriers twice, 12-1 and 14-2. With this victory, Castleton now stands at 31-10 on the season and secures an automatic berth into the 2015 NCAA Baseball Tournament. Thomas, meanwhile, finishes its season at 18-22 overall. After falling short a year ago, the Spartans left no doubt in 2015 as they scored the first six goals of the game on the way to a 10-6 victory over New England College in the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday evening.
Castleton earned its first NAC Title since 2013 by controlling the pace of play and outshooting the Pilgrims 34-13 in the opening 30 minutes. Full Story
The Spartans scored just 1:08 into the contest and never looked back as they won their fourth consecutive North Atlantic Conference Championship with a 16-3 victory over Thomas on a beautiful afternoon at Spartan Stadium.
